ICFA Input CBD Post 2020

ICFA welcomes ongoing developments for the adoption of an effective and inclusive Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF). The fisheries sector can be part of the solution, if properly involved in the debate. ICFA welcomes ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration between fisheries and biodiversity conservation, including through the CBD Sustainable Ocean Initiative (SOI) Global Dialogue between Regional Seas Conventions and Regional Fisheries Management Organizations. In this respect, ICFA recognizes the role of Other Effective Area-based Conservation Measures (OECMs) as an effective instrument of cross sectoral collaboration between fisheries and biodiversity conservation.
